Official vs fan: the short version

One official build, one fan remake, and a lot of pages in between. Here is how to tell them apart in under a minute.

The official build

Probably Stolen is developed by Questing Goose Studio and published by tinyBuild. The official release is Steam app 4348910, released 28 October 2026 at $19.99 / €19.99 / £16.99. The Steam page is the authority for price, platform and current state.

The store listing also links the developer’s community channels, which is how you check whether an announcement is real. If a page claiming to be official cannot be reached from that listing, it is not official.

Fan work, clearly labelled

This site is an unofficial field guide. It is not affiliated with Questing Goose Studio or tinyBuild, it does not host files, and it does not sell anything.

The browser remake at probably-stolen.online is a separate fan project with its own original code and art. It is not a port and it is not published by the rights holders. Links to it are labelled as unofficial everywhere they appear.

Three questions that settle it

  • Is the source the Steam page, the launch press release, or a build the writer played?
  • Does the page carry a date? A guide written during the Next Fest demo describes a different build.
  • Is the claim about the demo or the released game? The demo was retired at launch, and its numbers are not the game’s numbers.
